Group Research

We study the science that governs energy conversion and storage, with the goals of developing technologies that allow for high-efficiency applications using low-cost materials. Our efforts bridge the conventional sub-disciplines of materials chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis. By designing and synthesizing materials with desired features at the atomic scale, we strive to enable processes that hold great promises for next generation energy-related applications. Upon completion, our results are expected to change how our energy is provided and utilized.泭

Ongoing泭projects泭in our lab are funded by NSF, DOE, ACS, and Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. They include solar fuel synthesis, through which solar energy is directly harvested and stored; photocatalysis, which enables unique chemical reactions that are difficult or impossible to do with conventional thermal catalysis; as well as advanced batteries, which are expected to offer greater capacity, better safety, and lower cost than state-of-the-art Li ion one.
